The exhibition will be divided into three sections: the first is dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage of national scope and of the fight to combat counterfeiting; the second to the heritage of Sardinia and the third is dedicated, for the first time, to showcase the prestigious international masterpieces recovered by the 'Comando CC TPC'.
The task of protecting Italy's cultural heritage against unlawful acts was assigned to the Carabinieri in the nineteen-sixties, and the 'Artistic Heritage Unit' was formally established on May 3, 1969. In 1971 it became the 'Comando di Corpo' which since 2001 has been working directly with the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
At the end of the 15th century the danger of Turkish raids prompted the viceroy Juan Dusay to strengthen the fortifications of Cagliari. To strengthen the northern side of the walls of the Castle district were built a rampart and a ditch near the medieval tower of San Pancrazio.In the nineteenth century it became the Prisons hospital and later was owned by the Archaeological Superintendence. Now the Cittadella dei Musei offers a series of exhibitions all over the year.
